Start with bismillah.

Ask: "Is it easier to find your way with a torch or in the dark?"

Al Quran has Saad Al-Ghamdi's An-Nur with tajweed colours. Play a little.

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What kind of signs has Allah sent down?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why do I still need Allah's help after the signs are clear?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah An-Nur is surah 24. Find ayah 46. This ayah comes right after the clouds, the night and day, and the animals. The word mubayyinat means signs that make things plain. Clear signs are like a torch, but the guiding itself is from Allah, so we keep asking Him.

Fact: Which earlier ayah of An-Nur also talks about ayat that make things plain? Look at ayah 34.

Ages 5–8: Torch walk. In a dim room, try to reach a cushion, then try again with a torch. Which was easier?

Ages 9–12: Make it clear. Take a muddled set of instructions and rewrite them so anyone could follow them.

Finish with: "I found it in ayah ___."

Talk together:

• What makes an instruction clear?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• Which sign in An-Nur helped you most?
• Why do we keep asking Allah to guide us?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will ask Allah to guide me after ___ (which prayer)."

• Lead the torch walk for your family.
• Read out your clear instructions.
• Next time: the next ayah (24:47) describes people who say they believe and then turn away. Explore it together!
