Start with bismillah.

Ask: "Do you obey quickly or slowly?"

Play the short Al-Baqarah clip of ayah 71 from Ummah Muslim.

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did they finally do?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why did they almost not do it?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Baqarah is surah 2. Find ayah 71. After all their questions, they finally obeyed, but only just. Willing obedience is better than slow, reluctant obedience.

Fact: The cow had to be one never used for farm work.

Ages 5–8: Quick yes. Say yes to a request straight away.

Ages 9–12: Willing heart. Write why willing obedience is better.

Finish with: "They almost did ___ do it."

Talk together:

• What was the cow like?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• Did they obey?
• How will you obey willingly?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will say yes to my parents with a smile."

• Obey willingly.
• Don't delay.
• Smile.
• Next time: the next ayah (2:72) reveals why the cow was needed. Explore it together!
