وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱعْتَدَوْا۟ مِنكُمْ فِى ٱلسَّبْتِ فَقُلْنَا لَهُمْ كُونُوا۟ قِرَدَةً خَٰسِـِٔينَ
Wa laqad' ʻalim'tumu -lladhīna (i)ʻ'tadaw' minkum' fī ssab'ti faqulnā lahum' kūnū qiradatan khāssi'īna
And well ye knew those amongst you who transgressed in the matter of the Sabbath: We said to them: "Be ye apes, despised and rejected."

They knew about those among them who broke the Sabbath rule with tricks, and Allah turned those people into apes, rejected.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Is tricking your way around a rule still breaking it?"
For a few quiet minutes, listen to Mishary Alafasy reciting Al-Baqarah, shared by Quran Majeed.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Which day's rule was broken?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why were tricks punished?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Baqarah is surah 2. Find ayah 65. A town was told not to fish on the Sabbath, Saturday. Some set nets on Saturday and collected fish on Sunday, a trick. Allah punished them. Tricks don't fool Allah.
Fact: Sabt, the Sabbath, means Saturday, a day of rest for the Children of Israel.
Ages 5–8: No tricks. Talk about following rules honestly.
Ages 9–12: Loopholes. Write why tricks around rules are wrong.
Finish with: "Tricks don't fool ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will follow a rule even when I could trick my way around it."
Action: Follow a rule even when you could trick your way around it.
