وَإِذْ فَرَقْنَا بِكُمُ ٱلْبَحْرَ فَأَنجَيْنَٰكُمْ وَأَغْرَقْنَآ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَأَنتُمْ تَنظُرُونَ
Wa 'idh' faraq'nā bikumu l-baḥ'ra fa'anjay'nākum' wa'agh'raq'nā 'āla fir'ʻaw'na wa'antum' tanẓurūna
And remember We divided the sea for you and saved you and drowned Pharaoh's people within your very sight.

Remember when Allah split the sea for them, saved them, and drowned Pharaoh's people while they watched.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Can the sea open a path?"
Put on Mishary Alafasy's Al-Baqarah from MasterLife and follow along for a little while.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did Allah split?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How did they feel walking through the sea?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Baqarah is surah 2. Find ayah 50. Allah split the sea for Musa and his people. Pharaoh's army followed and drowned. Muslims fast on 'Ashura to thank Allah for this.
Fact: The Prophet fasted on 'Ashura, the day Musa was saved (Bukhari).
Ages 5–8: Sea path. Draw the sea with a path through it.
Ages 9–12: 'Ashura. Write why Muslims fast on 'Ashura.
Finish with: "Muslims fast on ___ for Musa's rescue."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will learn about the fast of 'Ashura."
Action: Learn about the fast of 'Ashura.
