Start with bismillah.

Ask: "Should we do something just because everyone always has?"

Play the short Al-Baqarah clip of ayat 166–170 from Madrasah Alfatiha.

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What do they follow?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why isn't tradition enough on its own?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Baqarah is surah 2. Find ayah 170. Good traditions are great, but we check them against Allah's guidance. Following blindly isn't wise.

Fact: Taqlid means following without checking.

Ages 5–8: Why do we? Ask why your family does one tradition.

Ages 9–12: Check it. Write why we check traditions against guidance.

Finish with: "Follow what Allah sent ___."

Talk together:

• What do they follow?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• Why not enough?
• Which tradition will you ask about?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will ask the reason behind one habit."

• Check traditions.
• Follow guidance.
• Think.
