وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ءَالِهَةًۭ لِّيَكُونُوا۟ لَهُمْ عِزًّۭا
Wa -ttakhadhū min dūni -llahi 'ālihatan lliyakūnū lahum' ʻizzan
And they have taken (for worship) gods other than Allah, to give them power and glory!

They took gods other than Allah, hoping to get strength and honour from them.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Where do people look for strength?"
For a few quiet minutes, listen to Saad Al-Ghamdi reciting Maryam, shared by الشيخ سعد الغامدي.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did they hope to get from false gods?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Who is the real source of strength?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Maryam is surah 19. Find ayah 81. People looked to idols for power and honour. But true strength and honour come only from Allah.
Fact: Find the ayah that says all honour belongs to Allah (Fatir 35:10).
Ages 5–8: Real strength. Talk about where real strength comes from.
Ages 9–12: Honour. Write how Allah gives honour.
Finish with: "I found it in Surah ___, ayah ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will ask Allah for strength before something hard."
Action: Ask Allah for strength before something hard.
