وَأَنذِرْهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْحَسْرَةِ إِذْ قُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ وَهُمْ فِى غَفْلَةٍۢ وَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
Wa 'andhir'hum' yaw'ma l-ḥas'rati 'idh' quḍiya l-'am'ru wahum' fī ghaf'latin wahum' lā yu''minūna
But warn them of the Day of Distress, when the matter will be determined: for (behold,) they are negligent and they do not believe!

Warn people of the Day of Regret, when everything will be decided, while they are not paying attention and don't believe.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What does regret feel like?"
Mufti Abdur-Rahman ibn Yusuf Mangera explains Surah Maryam in a ZamZam Academy talk. Grown-ups can skim it beforehand for a point about the Day of Regret.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What is that Day called here?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How can I avoid regret?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Maryam is surah 19. Find ayah 39. Regret is wishing you had done something differently. The Day of Regret will come for those who didn't care. We can avoid regret by doing good now.
Fact: Find another ayah where people wish they had done good (Al-Fajr 89:24).
Ages 5–8: No regrets. Make a list of good things to do today so you won't regret missing them.
Ages 9–12: Regret. Write how to live with no regrets.
Finish with: "I found it in Surah ___, ayah ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will not put off a good deed until later."
Action: Not put off a good deed until later.
