وَبَرًّۢا بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ وَلَمْ يَكُن جَبَّارًا عَصِيًّۭا

Wa barran[m] biwāliday'hi walam' yakun jabbāran ʻaṣiyyan

Yahya treated his mother and father with great kindness, never acting proud or rude.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How do you show love to your parents?"
Settle down and play the start of Mishary Alafasy's Maryam (Imran Khan).
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "How was Yahya with his parents?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why is kindness to parents so important?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Maryam is surah 19. Find ayah 14. Yahya honoured his parents. He wasn't bossy, proud or rude. Being kind to parents is one of the most loved deeds to Allah.
Fact: Find the ayah that says be good to parents and say not 'uff' (Al-Isra 17:23).
Ages 5–8: Parent helper. Do a surprise chore for your parents.
Ages 9–12: Respect. Write five ways to be kind to parents.
Finish with: "I found it in Surah ___, ayah ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will do a surprise chore for my parents."
Action: Do a surprise chore for your parents.
