ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمُ ٱسْتَحَبُّوا۟ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا عَلَى ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
Dhālika bi'annahumu (i)s'taḥabbū l-ḥayāta ddun'yā ʻalāl-'ākhirati wa'anna -llaha lā yah'dī l-qaw'ma l-kāfirīna
This because they love the life of this world better than the Hereafter: and Allah will not guide those who reject Faith.

That is because they loved the life of this world more than the Hereafter, and Allah does not guide people who reject faith.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Can loving something too much make you forget what matters?"
Begin Nasser Al-Qatami's An-Nahl on From Darkness To Light and listen for a few minutes.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did they love more?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How can I keep the Hereafter first?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah An-Nahl is surah 16. Find ayah 107. Some people turned away because they loved this world too much. Enjoying good things is fine; loving them more than Allah is the problem.
Fact: Al-A'la 87:16–17 says the Hereafter is better and lasts longer. Read it.
Ages 5–8: First things first. Put prayer before play today.
Ages 9–12: Balance. Write how to enjoy life while keeping the Hereafter first.
Finish with: "Al-A'la 87:17 says ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will pray on time before playing."
Action: Pray on time before playing.
