قَالَ يَٰٓإِبْلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ
Qāla yā'ib'līssu mā laka 'allā takūna maʻa ssājidīna
(Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?"

Allah asked Iblis why he was not with those who bowed.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Why does Allah ask questions He knows the answer to?"
Begin Saud Ash-Shuraim's Al-Hijr on The Holy Quran And Us and listen for a few minutes.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did Allah ask Iblis?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What chance did Iblis have here?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Hijr is surah 15. Find ayah 32. Allah asked Iblis to explain. It was a chance to admit his mistake. Instead, Iblis made an excuse.
Fact: Compare with Adam, who admitted his mistake (Al-A'raf 7:23).
Ages 5–8: Own it. Practise saying 'I was wrong'.
Ages 9–12: Two responses. Write how Adam and Iblis responded differently.
Finish with: "I found Adam said ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will own up quickly when asked about a mistake."
Action: Own up quickly when asked about a mistake.
