هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُرِيكُمُ ٱلْبَرْقَ خَوْفًۭا وَطَمَعًۭا وَيُنشِئُ ٱلسَّحَابَ ٱلثِّقَالَ
Huwa -lladhī yurīkumu l-bar'qa khaw'fan waṭamaʻan wayunshi'u ssaḥāba ththiqāla
It is He Who doth show you the lightning, by way both of fear and of hope: It is He Who doth raise up the clouds, heavy with (fertilising) rain!

Allah is the One who shows you lightning, which brings both fear and hope, and who raises up clouds heavy with rain.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How do you feel when you see lightning?"
A short clip on Ayuri Channel recites ayat 12–13 of Ar-Ra'd. Play the whole clip.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What two feelings does lightning bring?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why can lightning bring both fear and hope?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ar-Ra'd is surah 13. Find ayah 12. Lightning can be frightening. But it often comes with rain clouds, and rain brings water for crops and rivers. So lightning brings fear and hope together. Both make us turn to Allah.
Fact: Lightning is a giant spark of electricity, hotter than the surface of the Sun. Find out how to stay safe in a thunderstorm.
Ages 5–8: Count the gap. In a storm, count the seconds between the flash and the thunder.
Ages 9–12: Fear and hope. Write a du'a for when you see a storm.
Finish with: "To stay safe in a storm, we should ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will make du'a when it rains."
Action: Make du'a when it rains.
