قَالَ مَا خَطْبُكُنَّ إِذْ رَٰوَدتُّنَّ يُوسُفَ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ ۚ قُلْنَ حَٰشَ لِلَّهِ مَا عَلِمْنَا عَلَيْهِ مِن سُوٓءٍۢ ۚ قَالَتِ ٱمْرَأَتُ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْـَٰٔنَ حَصْحَصَ ٱلْحَقُّ أَنَا۠ رَٰوَدتُّهُۥ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ
How to read it
Qāla mā khaṭ'bukunna 'idh' rāwadttunna yūssufa ʻan nnaf'sihī . qulna ḥāsha lillahi mā ʻalim'nā ʻalay'hi min sū'in . qālati (i)m'ra'atu l-ʻazīzi l-'āna ḥaṣ'ḥaṣa l-ḥaqqu 'anā rāwadttuhu ʻan nnaf'sihī wa'innahu lamina ṣṣādiqīna
(The king) said (to the ladies): "What was your affair when ye did seek to seduce Joseph from his (true) self?" The ladies said: "Allah preserve us! no evil know we against him!" Said the 'Aziz's wife: "Now is the truth manifest (to all): it was I who sought to seduce him from his (true) self: He is indeed of those who are (ever) true (and virtuous).
