وَلَمَّا جَآءَتْ رُسُلُنَا لُوطًۭا سِىٓءَ بِهِمْ وَضَاقَ بِهِمْ ذَرْعًۭا وَقَالَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَصِيبٌۭ
Wa lammā jā'at' russulunā lūṭan sī'a bihim' waḍāqa bihim' dhar'ʻan waqāla hādhā yaw'mun ʻaṣībun
When Our messengers came to Lut, he was grieved on their account and felt himself powerless (to protect) them. He said: "This is a distressful day."

When the messengers came to Lut, he was upset and worried for them, feeling unable to protect them, and said this was a very hard day.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How do you feel when you want to protect someone but can't?"
Mahmoud Khalil Al-Husary recites Hud on Daily Deen. A few minutes is plenty.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "How did Lut feel?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why was Lut worried for his guests?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Hud is surah 11. Find ayah 77. The angels came to Lut looking like guests. Lut worried because his people did shameful deeds and he feared for his guests. Protecting guests is a duty.
Fact: In Al-Hijr 15:61–62, Lut meets the messengers.
Ages 5–8: Protect guests. Talk about how we keep guests safe and comfortable.
Ages 9–12: Caring host. Write how Lut showed care for his guests.
Finish with: "Al-Hijr 15:62 says Lut told them ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will make a guest feel safe and welcome."
Action: Make a guest feel safe and welcome.
