4-I guide
This ayah warns that racing each other to have more and more can distract us from what really matters.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Have you ever wanted something just because a friend had it? Did it make you happy for long?"
Watch the BBC Earth video of hermit crabs lining up to swap shells. Each one wants a bigger, better shell!
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What does this ayah say distracts people?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How much is enough?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah At-Takathur is surah 102, and it has eight ayat. Find ayah 1. The surah's name comes from a word in this ayah. What does it mean in the translation?
Fact: Why do hermit crabs need to change shells as they grow?
Ages 5–8: Enough jar. Put five sweets in a jar. Talk: is five enough for today? What could you do with any extra?
Ages 9–12: Want or need? List ten things you'd like. Mark each one "need" or "want". Which wants would you still care about in a year?
Finish with: "I found that I really need ___, and I just want ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, when I want something just because someone else has it, I will ___."
Action: Try your plan out each day this week.
