Ask: "Do you only help when it's easy?"

A short clip on Ummah Muslim recites ayah 41 of At-Tawbah. Play the whole clip.

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "With what two things should they strive?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What does 'light or heavy' mean?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah At-Tawbah is surah 9. Find ayah 41. For Tabuk, everyone who could was asked to go, whether they had little or a lot, felt strong or weak. Doing good when it is hard shows true commitment.

Fact: How 'Uthman ibn 'Affan helped equip the army of Tabuk.

Ages 5–8: Easy or hard. Do one helpful job even if it feels hard.

Ages 9–12: Commitment. Write about doing good in easy and hard times.

Finish with: "'Uthman equipped much of the army of ___."

Talk together:

• What does 'light or heavy' mean?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• How did 'Uthman help?
• What good deed can you do even when it is hard?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will do a good deed even when I don't feel like it."

• Do a hard job.
• Give what you can.
