On that Day some faces will shine bright…
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What makes a face light up?"
Watch the TED-Ed video "How do fireflies create light?".
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "How will some faces look?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How can my face shine on that Day?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah 'Abasa is surah 80. Find ayah 38. The key word musfirah means shining, bright like the dawn. These are the faces of the believers, full of joy.
Fact: How do fireflies make light without getting hot?
Ages 5–8: Glow picture. Draw fireflies in a dark forest using yellow on black paper.
Ages 9–12: Cold light. Find out what "bioluminescence" means and name three animals that have it.
Finish with: "I found that fireflies make light using ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will do one good deed that makes someone smile."
Action: Do one good deed that makes someone smile.
