وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ شَٰمِخَٰتٍۢ وَأَسْقَيْنَٰكُم مَّآءًۭ فُرَاتًۭا
Wa jaʻalnā fīhā rawāssiya shāmikhātin wa'as'qay'nākum mmā'an furātan
And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)?

Allah placed tall, firm mountains on the earth and gave us fresh water to drink.
Start with bismillah.
Taste a little salty water, then fresh water. Ask: "Which would you rather drink every day?"
Watch the Crash Course Kids video The Basics of Freshwater.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What two gifts are mentioned?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How do mountains help give us water?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Mursalat is surah 77. Find ayah 27. The key words rawasiya shamikhat mean firm, lofty mountains, and ma'an furata means sweet, fresh water. Many rivers begin as snow and rain high in the mountains.
Fact: How do mountains help make rivers?
Ages 5–8: Mountain rain. Make a mountain from crumpled foil. Spray water on top. Where does it flow?
Ages 9–12: River source. Find a big river near you. Where does it begin?
Finish with: "I found that many rivers start in ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will turn off the tap while I brush my teeth."
Action: Turn off the tap while you brush your teeth.
