وَأَنَّا لَمَسْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ فَوَجَدْنَٰهَا مُلِئَتْ حَرَسًۭا شَدِيدًۭا وَشُهُبًۭا
Wa 'annā lamas'nā ssamā'a fawajad'nāhā muli'at' ḥarassan shadīdan washuhuban
'And we pried into the secrets of heaven; but we found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires.

They said they reached for the sky and found it filled with strong guards and flames.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Have you ever seen a shooting star?"
Watch the Dr. Binocs video Meteors.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did they find in the sky?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How does Allah protect the heavens?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Jinn is surah 72. Find ayah 8. The key words harasan shadidan wa shuhuba mean strong guards and flames. When the Quran was being revealed, the heavens were guarded so no one could steal the news. Many scholars link the shuhub to shooting stars.
Fact: What is a shooting star really made of?
Ages 5–8: Star watch. On a clear night, watch the sky for ten minutes with an adult. Did you see a shooting star?
Ages 9–12: Meteor words. Find the difference between a meteoroid, a meteor and a meteorite.
Finish with: "I found that a shooting star is really ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will look at the night sky and say subhanAllah."
Action: Look at the night sky and say subhanAllah.
