فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ فِى دَارِهِمْ جَٰثِمِينَ
Fa'akhadhat'humu rraj'fatu fa'aṣ'baḥū fī dārihim' jāthimīna
So the earthquake took them unawares, and they lay prostrate in their homes in the morning!

Then a terrible earthquake seized them, and by morning they lay lifeless in their homes.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Can strong homes protect against Allah's command?"
Let the reciter's voice of ayat 73–84 from The Quran DVD fill the room for a few minutes. Close your eyes while you listen.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What seized them?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why couldn't their strong homes save them?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-A'raf is surah 7. Find ayah 78. Thamud's rock homes were strong, but nothing protects against Allah's decree. This is mentioned in one calm line. Real safety comes from obeying Allah.
Fact: How earthquakes happen when plates in the earth move. A sign to ponder.
Ages 5–8: Real safety. Talk about what makes us truly safe.
Ages 9–12: Strength. Write why physical strength can't save from Allah's command.
Finish with: "Earthquakes happen when the earth's ___ move."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will ask Allah for safety each morning."
Action: Ask Allah for safety each morning.
