فَلَمَّا عَتَوْا۟ عَن مَّا نُهُوا۟ عَنْهُ قُلْنَا لَهُمْ كُونُوا۟ قِرَدَةً خَٰسِـِٔينَ
Falammā ʻataw' ʻan mmā nuhū ʻan'hu qulnā lahum' kūnū qiradatan khāssi'īna
When in their insolence they transgressed (all) prohibitions, We said to them: "Be ye apes, despised and rejected."

When they kept defying what they were forbidden, Allah said to them, 'Be apes, despised.'
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What happens when people keep crossing limits?"
Put on Abdur-Rahman As-Sudais and Saud Al-Shuraim's Al-A'raf from darkspiderwarrior and follow along for a little while.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did Allah turn them into?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why was this a sign?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-A'raf is surah 7. Find ayah 166. Allah turned the Sabbath-breakers into apes as a sign and lesson. We learn to respect Allah's limits and not trick our way round His rules.
Fact: Find Al-Baqarah 2:65–66, a lesson for those who came after.
Ages 5–8: Respect limits. Talk about why rules matter.
Ages 9–12: Lesson. Write what this story teaches about tricks.
Finish with: "It was a lesson for those who came ___."
Talk together:
