يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَا تَعْتَذِرُوا۟ ٱلْيَوْمَ ۖ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Yā'ayyuhā -lladhīna kafarū lā taʻ'tadhirū l-yaw'ma . 'innamā tuj'zaw'na mā kuntum' taʻ'malūna
(They will say), "O ye Unbelievers! Make no excuses this Day! Ye are being but requited for all that ye did!"

On that Day the disbelievers will be told not to make excuses, for they are only repaid for what they did.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What's an excuse, and why do we make them?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What will not help on that Day?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why is it better to own our actions now?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah At-Tahrim is surah 66. Find ayah 7. The key words la ta'tadhiru mean make no excuses. There's a time for excuses to stop. Now is the time to own our actions and fix them, while we still can.
Fact: What's the difference between an excuse and a reason?
Ages 5–8: Excuse or fix? Act out a spilled drink: once with an excuse, once by cleaning it up.
Ages 9–12: Swap it. Write three common excuses and what you could say instead.
Finish with: "I found that an excuse is different from a reason because ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will fix things instead of making excuses."
Action: Fix things instead of making excuses.
