Start with bismillah.

Ask: "What happens in your brain when you learn to read?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What three things did the Messenger do?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What would I have asked the Prophet if he were my teacher?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Jumu'ah is surah 62. Find ayah 2. The key word al-ummiyyin means people without a written scripture. The Prophet recited Allah's ayat, helped people become pure, and taught the Book and wisdom. He was the greatest teacher, and learning changed a whole people.

Fact: How many different parts of the brain work together when we read?

Ages 5–8: Teach back. Learn one new word today and teach it to someone at home.

Ages 9–12: Three jobs. Write what each of the Prophet's three jobs in this ayah means.

Finish with: "I found that reading uses ___ parts of the brain."

Talk together:

• Why was the Prophet such a good teacher?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• What's the difference between knowledge and wisdom?
• What would you like to learn about Islam next?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will learn one new thing about the Prophet."

• Teach back a new word.
• Share the three jobs.
• Next time: the next ayah (62:3) says the message is also for others who come later. Explore it together!
