Start with bismillah.

Cut a cake or sandwich into equal parts. Ask: "How do we make sure everyone gets a fair share?"

Watch the Homeschool Pop video Equal Parts for Kids.

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What should be given back?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why does Allah care so much about fairness?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Mumtahanah is surah 60. Find ayah 11. The details are rules for grown-ups. The key words fa-atu alladhina mean then give those (back). Even in difficult times, Allah asks people to repay fairly so no one is cheated. Fairness is like cutting a cake into equal slices.

Fact: What does a fraction like one quarter mean?

Ages 5–8: Fair slices. Cut a paper "cake" into equal pieces for your family.

Ages 9–12: Fair deal. Write about a time you made sure something was shared fairly.

Finish with: "I found that one quarter means ___."

Talk together:

• Why should we be fair even with people we disagree with?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• How can we share fairly at home?
• What does "be mindful of Allah" have to do with fairness?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will make sure things are shared fairly."

• Share things fairly.
• Cut fair slices.
• Share your fair deal.
• Next time: the next ayah (60:12) tells of promises believing women made to the Prophet. Explore it together!

Action: Make sure things are shared fairly.
