وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍۢ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُم بِٱلْبَأْسَآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَضَرَّعُونَ
Wa laqad' 'ar'salnā 'ilā 'umamin mmin qab'lika fa'akhadh'nāhum bil-ba''sā'i wa ḍḍarrā'i laʻallahum' yataḍarraʻūna
Before thee We sent (messengers) to many nations, and We afflicted the nations with suffering and adversity, that they might learn humility.

Allah sent messengers to many nations and tested them with hardship and suffering so they might become humble.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How can a hard time make you a better person?"
Begin with NgajiBareng04's slow recitation of ayat 42 to 50. Stop after a minute and talk about how calm voices help us listen.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Why were the nations tested?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What does it mean to be humble before Allah?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-An'am is surah 6. Find ayah 42. Hard times can soften hearts and turn people back to Allah. Being humble means knowing we need Him.
Fact: Al-Baqarah 2:155–156 is about being tested and saying we belong to Allah.
Ages 5–8: Humble words. Practise 'I need Allah's help' when things are hard.
Ages 9–12: Tests teach. Write about a hard time that taught you something.
Finish with: "Hardship can make us ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will make du'a when something is hard."
Action: Make du'a when something is hard.
