Start with bismillah.

Ask: "What does it feel like to be really hungry?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What good things does Allah give as ways to make up for a wrong?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why does Allah link making up for wrongs with feeding the hungry?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Mujadilah is surah 58. Find ayah 4. These are rules for grown-ups, and scholars explain the details. The lesson for us is that words and promises matter, and when we do wrong, Allah gives us a way back. A wrong can be put right. Fasting teaches patience, and feeding the hungry helps others.

Fact: What happens in your body when you feel hungry?

Ages 5–8: Food for others. Help pack a bag of food for someone who needs it.

Ages 9–12: Making amends. Write about a time you put a wrong right. What did you say, and what did you do to make up for it?

Finish with: "I found that hunger comes from ___."

Talk together:

• Why does Allah like us to feed the hungry?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• How can we put right a wrong we did?
• What are Allah's limits for?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will share food with someone who needs it."

• Share food with someone in need.
• Pack food for others.
• Share your making-amends story.
• Next time: the next ayah (58:5) says those who oppose Allah will be humbled. Explore it together!
