Or has he not been told what is in the scriptures of Musa?
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How did people first start writing things down?"
Watch the Happy Learning video The History of Written Language.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Which scriptures are mentioned?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What did earlier scriptures teach?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah An-Najm is surah 53. Find ayah 36. The key word suhuf means scrolls or written pages. Allah sent messages to earlier prophets too, like Musa, peace be upon him. The next ayat share some of the lessons in those scrolls, lessons that are the same in the Quran.
Fact: What were some of the earliest ways people wrote things down?
Ages 5–8: Clay writing. Press letters into a lump of clay with a stick, like early writers did.
Ages 9–12: Same lessons. As you read the next ayat, list the lessons that were also in the scrolls of Musa and Ibrahim.
Finish with: "I found that early writing was made on ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will learn the names of five prophets."
Action: Learn the names of five prophets.
