وَفِى عَادٍ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلرِّيحَ ٱلْعَقِيمَ
Wa fī ʻādin 'idh' 'ar'salnā ʻalay'himu rrīḥa l-ʻaqīma
And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind:

And in 'Ad there was a sign, when We sent against them a barren wind.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Have you ever seen a dust storm or a sandstorm?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What kind of wind was sent to 'Ad?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How can the same wind be a mercy one day and a warning another?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Adh-Dhariyat is surah 51. Find ayah 41. The key words ar-rih al-'aqim mean the barren wind, a wind that brings no rain and no good. The surah began with winds that spread blessings. Here a wind was sent as a warning to the proud people of 'Ad. Wind obeys Allah. It is a sign to ponder.
Fact: How should we stay safe during a dust storm?
Ages 5–8: Storm in a jar. Shake sand in a clear jar of water and watch it swirl and settle.
Ages 9–12: Wind contrast. Make a two-column chart: winds that bring blessings, and winds that warn.
Finish with: "I found that in a dust storm we should ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will learn our family's plan for storms and bad weather."
Action: Learn our family's plan for storms and bad weather.
