Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How does soft clay turn into hard rock?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How long does it take for clay to become stone?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Adh-Dhariyat is surah 51. Find ayah 33. The key words hijaratan min tin mean stones of clay. Clay can harden into stone when it is baked by heat or pressed for a very long time. Allah used such stones as a sign against a people who refused His warnings.
Fact: What kind of rock forms when layers of mud are pressed together?
Ages 5–8: Clay bake. With a grown-up, shape air-dry clay and see how hard it becomes after a day.
Ages 9–12: Rock types. Make a chart of the three main types of rock with an example of each.
Finish with: "I found that pressed mud becomes ___ rock."
