Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Who were the people of the well?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Qaf is surah 50. Find ayah 12. The key words ashab ar-rass mean the people of the well. Scholars say they were a people who lived by a well and rejected their messenger. The Quran lists earlier peoples to comfort the Prophet and to remind us to listen. Wells reach water stored deep underground.

Ages 5–8: Well model. Push a straw into wet sand in a cup and try to suck up water.

Ages 9–12: People list. Begin a chart of the peoples named in ayat 12–14.

Finish with: "I found that an aquifer is ___."
