لَقَدْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَٰقَ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَأَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْهِمْ رُسُلًۭا ۖ كُلَّمَا جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌۢ بِمَا لَا تَهْوَىٰٓ أَنفُسُهُمْ فَرِيقًۭا كَذَّبُوا۟ وَفَرِيقًۭا يَقْتُلُونَ
How to read it
Laqad' 'akhadh'nā mīthāqa banī 'is'rā'īla wa'ar'salnā 'ilay'him' russulan . kullamā jā'ahum' rassūlun[m] bimā lā tah'wā 'anfussuhum' farīqan kadhdhabū wafarīqan yaq'tulūna
We took the covenant of the Children of Israel and sent them messengers, every time, there came to them a messenger with what they themselves desired not - some (of these) they called impostors, and some they (go so far as to) slay.
