Start with bismillah.

Ask: "What makes someone a person you can trust?"

Play the short Al-Ma'idah clip of ayah 1 from Ummah Muslim.

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What is the first thing believers are told to do?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why does a surah about food start with keeping promises?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Ma'idah is surah 5. Find ayah 1. Al-Ma'idah means 'the Table Spread', named after the table of food that 'Isa's disciples asked for near the end of the surah. It was one of the last surahs revealed and has many rules for daily life.

Fact: Ihram is the special state and clothing of pilgrims during Hajj and 'Umrah.

Ages 5–8: Promise jar. Write small promises on slips and keep them this week.

Ages 9–12: Contracts. List promises we make to Allah, family and friends.

Finish with: "Al-Ma'idah means the Table ___."

Talk together:

• What should believers fulfil?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• Why do promises matter?
• Which promise will you keep?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will keep every promise I make."
