Start with bismillah.

Ask: "What things can you control, and what things can't you?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Who has power over the things we cannot reach?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How does trusting Allah help with things I can't control?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Fath is surah 48. Find ayah 21. The key words lam taqdiru 'alayha mean you were not able to reach them. Some good things were out of the believers' reach, but Allah already had them in His control. We do our part, and leave the rest to the One who has power over everything.

Fact: What is one thing in your "circle of control" and one outside it?

Ages 5–8: Circle sort. Draw two circles and sort things you can and can't control.

Ages 9–12: Do and trust. Write one goal: what you will do, and what you will leave to Allah.

Finish with: "I found that ___ is in my control and ___ is not."

Talk together:

• Why is it comforting that Allah has power over everything?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• What do you worry about that you can't control?
• How can we do our part and trust Allah?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will do my best on one task and then leave the result to Allah."

• Share do and trust.
• Next time: the next ayah (48:22) says Allah protects the believers. Explore it together!
