Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What was their only reason?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How do I know which traditions are good to keep?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Az-Zukhruf is surah 43. Find ayah 22. The key words 'ala atharihim mean in their footsteps. The idol-worshippers had no proof, only "our grandparents did it". Many family traditions are beautiful and good. But when a habit goes against Allah's guidance, love for our ancestors should not stop us from choosing the truth.

Fact: What is a tradition?

Ages 5–8: Good traditions. Draw a good family tradition you love.

Ages 9–12: Keep or change. List family habits to keep and one you would change, and explain why.

Finish with: "I found that a tradition is ___."

Talk together:

• Why is "we always did it" not enough proof?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• Which family traditions do you love?
• How can we respect elders and still follow the truth?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will ask an elder why we do one of our family traditions."
