وَلَمَن صَبَرَ وَغَفَرَ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَمِنْ عَزْمِ ٱلْأُمُورِ
Wa laman ṣabara waghafara 'inna dhālika lamin' ʻaz'mi l-'umūri
But indeed if any show patience and forgive, that would truly be an exercise of courageous will and resolution in the conduct of affairs.

But whoever bears it patiently and forgives, that is a sign of true strength and firm resolve.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Which takes more strength: hitting back or forgiving?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What two qualities are praised?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why is forgiving a sign of strength?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ash-Shura is surah 42. Find ayah 43. The key words azm al-umur mean matters of firm resolve. After allowing self-defence, Allah praises something even higher: patience and forgiveness. Anyone can shout back, but staying calm and forgiving takes great courage. These ayat show that Islam is fair and also full of mercy.
Fact: Which prophet said patience is beautiful when his sons hurt him?
Ages 5–8: Strong like a tree. Stand like a tree swaying in the wind but not falling, and talk about staying calm.
Ages 9–12: Strength stories. Find two stories from the Quran where a prophet chose patience and forgiveness.
Finish with: "I found that the prophet was ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will forgive one small hurt without complaining."
Action: Forgive one small hurt without complaining.
