وَمَا يُلَقَّىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ صَبَرُوا۟ وَمَا يُلَقَّىٰهَآ إِلَّا ذُو حَظٍّ عَظِيمٍۢ
Wa mā yulaqqāhā 'illā -lladhīna ṣabarū wamā yulaqqāhā 'illā dhū ḥaẓẓin ʻaẓīmin
And no one will be granted such goodness except those who exercise patience and self-restraint,- none but persons of the greatest good fortune.

Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What helps you stay calm when you want to snap back?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Who is able to answer bad with good?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why is patience a great fortune?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Fussilat is surah 41. Find ayah 35. The key words hazzin azim mean a great share of good fortune. Answering bad with good is not easy. It takes patience and self-control. Allah says those who manage it have been given a great fortune, worth more than any treasure. Every time we hold back, we grow stronger.
Fact: Which part of the brain helps us control our feelings?
Ages 5–8: Traffic light. Make a red, amber and green card: stop, think, then choose a kind action.
Ages 9–12: Patience points. Keep a tally of times you stayed patient this week.
Finish with: "I found that the ___ helps control feelings."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will use stop, think, choose before I react."
Action: Use stop, think, choose before you react.
