أَوْ تَقُولَ لَوْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هَدَىٰنِى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
'Aw' taqūla law' 'anna -llaha hadānī lakuntu mina l-muttaqīna
"Or (lest) it should say: 'If only Allah had guided me, I should certainly have been among the righteous!'-

Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Is it fair to blame others for our own choices?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What excuse does this soul make?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Hasn't Allah already guided us?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Az-Zumar is surah 39. Find ayah 57. The key word hadani means He guided me. Some will try to excuse themselves by saying Allah did not guide them. But Allah sent messengers, the Quran and countless signs. The guidance was there; they chose not to follow it. Owning our choices is the first step to doing better.
Fact: Which ayah in Surah Al-Furqan tells of the wrongdoer biting his hands in regret?
Ages 5–8: Own it. Practise saying: that was my choice, and I will do better.
Ages 9–12: Guidance all around. List all the ways Allah's guidance has reached you.
Finish with: "I found that the ayah is Al-Furqan ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will say sorry and fix things when I make a mistake."
Action: Say sorry and fix things when you make a mistake.
