Start with bismillah.

Ask: "What makes your heart feel soft and kind?"

Watch the Mountain of Light video Your Mother. (It has music.)

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What does Allah give the one whose heart is open?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How do hearts become hard?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Az-Zumar is surah 39. Find ayah 22. The key words sharaha sadrahu mean He opened his chest. An open heart welcomes Islam and walks in Allah's light. A hard heart stays closed even when Allah is remembered. Kindness, dhikr and the Quran keep hearts soft; pride and ignoring reminders make them hard.

Fact: Which short surah begins? Did We not open your chest for you?

Ages 5–8: Soft clay. Warm clay in your hands until it softens, and talk about keeping hearts soft.

Ages 9–12: Heart softeners. List five things that soften hearts and five that harden them.

Finish with: "I found that the surah is ___."

Talk together:

• What softens your heart?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• How can we keep our hearts open to Islam?
• Why does remembering Allah matter so much?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will do one kind thing for my mother or another family member each day."
