Has the account of the two disputants reached you, when they climbed over the wall into the prayer chamber?
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How would you feel if someone suddenly climbed into your room?"
Watch the Chronicles of Islam video 99 Sheep Against 1: A King's Test.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Where did the two visitors come in?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why didn't they use the door?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Sad is surah 38. Find ayah 21. The key word al-mihrab means a private room for prayer. Dawud had special times for worship and special times for judging people. Two men climbed over the wall into his prayer room to bring him a dispute. The next ayat tell how he handled it. This story is a test from Allah and a lesson for us.
Fact: What is the mihrab in a masjid used for today?
Ages 5–8: Knock first. Practise knocking and asking permission before entering a room.
Ages 9–12: Right time. Plan a weekly timetable with set times for worship, family and play.
Finish with: "I found that the mihrab today shows ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will knock and ask before entering a room."
