4-I guide
We misled you, for we were misguided ourselves.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Can a person who is lost give good directions?"
Watch the TEDxYouth video Don't Follow the Crowd.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Why did the leaders mislead others?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How do I check if a leader is guided?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah As-Saffat is surah 37. Find ayah 32. The key word ghawin means astray, lost. The leaders admit they were lost themselves, so of course they led others the wrong way. Before following anyone, check: does this person follow Allah's guidance? Our compass is the Quran and the example of the Prophet.
Fact: What is the name of the Prophet's example and way of life that Muslims follow?
Ages 5–8: Blindfold guide. Take turns guiding a blindfolded partner, then try with a guide who is also blindfolded, and talk about it.
Ages 9–12: Leader checklist. Write four questions to ask before following someone's advice.
Finish with: "I found that it is called the ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will check my choices against what the Quran teaches."
Action: Check your choices against what the Quran teaches.
