Start with bismillah.

Ask: "Have you ever been in a place where you could not see out?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What blocks their sight?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What can block a heart from seeing?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ya-Sin is surah 36. Find ayah 9. The key word saddan means a barrier or wall. The deniers are pictured boxed in, unable to look forward to the Hereafter or back at the lessons of the past. Their own stubbornness built the walls. Reflecting, asking and listening are ways to keep our view clear.

Fact: Which part of the eye lets light in and changes size in bright and dim light?

Ages 5–8: Peek out. Sit inside a cardboard box and notice how little you see, then climb out and look around.

Ages 9–12: Wall builders. List habits that block us from learning, like not listening or making fun, and a fix for each.

Finish with: "I found that the ___ lets light in."

Talk together:

• What walls can people build around their hearts?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• How can we look back at lessons and forward to the Hereafter?
• What helps you see clearly when you are upset?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will ask one question whenever I do not understand something."

• Ask when unsure.
• Peek out of a box.
• Share your wall fixes.
• Next time: the next ayah (36:10) says warning makes no difference to them. Explore it together!
