Start with bismillah.

Ask: "Where is your favourite place to rest on a hot day?"

Watch the Yaqeen Institute video How Do You Look in Jannah? Play the first few minutes.

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Where do they rest?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What will the shade of Jannah feel like?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ya-Sin is surah 36. Find ayah 56. The key word zilal means shades. For people living in hot deserts, shade was a precious gift. In the Garden, families rest together in cool shade on couches called ara'ik. Rest there comes after effort here.

Fact: Besides blocking sunlight, what do leaves release that helps cool the air around a tree?

Ages 5–8: Shade test. Put one hand in the sun and one in the shade and describe the difference.

Ages 9–12: Thermometer check. Measure the temperature in the sun and under a tree and find the difference.

Finish with: "I found that leaves release ___."

Talk together:

• Why is shade a gift?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• Why is resting with family special?
• How can you work hard now for rest later?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will plant or care for a plant that may give shade one day."

• Care for a plant.
• Do a shade test.
• Share your thermometer check.
• Next time: the next ayah (36:57) talks about fruit in the Garden. Explore it together!

Action: Plant or care for a plant that may give shade one day.
