وَقَالُوا۟ نَحْنُ أَكْثَرُ أَمْوَٰلًۭا وَأَوْلَٰدًۭا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
Wa qālū naḥ'nu 'ak'tharu 'am'wālan wa'aw'lādan wamā naḥ'nu bimuʻadhdhabīna
They said: "We have more in wealth and in sons, and we cannot be punished."

They boasted of having more money and children, thinking that would keep them safe.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Does having more things mean someone is a better person?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did they boast about?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What really makes someone safe?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Saba is surah 34. Find ayah 35. The key word aktharu means more in number. The wealthy thought big families and riches proved Allah was pleased with them. But blessings in this world are a test, not a reward badge. Safety comes from faith and good deeds.
Fact: In Surah Al-Kahf, what happened to the proud owner of two gardens?
Ages 5–8: Treasure box. Draw a treasure box and fill it with good deeds instead of gold.
Ages 9–12: Test or reward. Write why blessings are a test, using the gardens story.
Finish with: "I found that his gardens were ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will thank Allah for a blessing instead of boasting about it."
Action: Thank Allah for a blessing instead of boasting about it.
