وَلَا تُصَعِّرْ خَدَّكَ لِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَمْشِ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مَرَحًا ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخْتَالٍۢ فَخُورٍۢ
Wa lā tuṣaʻʻir' khaddaka li nnāssi walā tam'shi fī l-'ar'ḍi maraḥan . 'inna -llaha lā yuḥibbu kulla mukh'tālin fakhūrin
"And swell not thy cheek (for pride) at men, nor walk in insolence through the earth; for Allah loveth not any arrogant boaster.

Luqman told his son not to turn his face away from people in pride or strut about, for Allah does not love boastful people.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How can you tell someone feels better than others just by how they act?"
Watch the Light of Deen video The Arrogant Kid Who Changed.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Which two proud actions are mentioned?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How can I stay humble?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Luqman is surah 31. Find ayah 18. The key words la tusa''ir khaddaka mean do not turn your cheek away. The word comes from a camel disease that makes it twist its neck. Turning away from people in pride is ugly. Humble people face others, smile and listen.
Fact: Which proud creature in the Quran refused to bow to Adam, saying he was better?
Ages 5–8: Face and smile. Practise turning towards someone, looking at them kindly and smiling when they speak.
Ages 9–12: Pride signs. Write five signs of pride and the humble action that replaces each.
Finish with: "I found that it was ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will turn towards people and smile when they speak to me."
Action: Turn towards people and smile when they speak to you.
