إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَٰيَٰنَآ أَن كُنَّآ أَوَّلَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
'Innā naṭ'maʻu 'an yagh'fira lanā rabbunā khaṭāyānā 'an kunnā 'awwala l-mu''minīna
"Only, our desire is that our Lord will forgive us our faults, that we may become foremost among the believers!"

They hoped their Lord would forgive their past wrongs because they were the first to believe.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Is it hard to be the first to do something good?"
Sit quietly and hear Yasser Al-Dosari from the DAGG Productions channel.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did the magicians hope for?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why did being first matter to them?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ash-Shu'ara is surah 26. Find ayah 51. The key words awwala al-mu'minin mean the first of the believers. They were first in Pharaoh's land to believe that day. Being first takes courage. Racing to good is praised in the Quran.
Fact: Which ayah of At-Tawbah praises the first and foremost believers?
Ages 5–8: Be first. Be first to say salam today.
