وَقَالُوٓا۟ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ٱكْتَتَبَهَا فَهِىَ تُمْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ بُكْرَةًۭ وَأَصِيلًۭا
Wa qālū 'assāṭīru l-'awwalīna (i)k'tatabahā fahiya tum'lā ʻalay'hi buk'ratan wa'aṣīlan
And they say: "Tales of the ancients, which he has caused to be written: and they are dictated before him morning and evening."

They said the Quran was only stories of earlier peoples that someone wrote down and recited to him every morning and evening.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What is the difference between a story and a lesson?"
Try a few minutes of Ibrahim Idris, posted by Ibrahim Idris.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did they call the Quran this time?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why does the Quran tell stories of earlier peoples?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Furqan is surah 25. Find ayah 5. The key word asatir means old tales or legends. The Quran does tell stories of the past, but they are true and carry lessons for today. The deniers kept changing their excuses.
Fact: Which surah tells the story of Yusuf from beginning to end?
Ages 5–8: Story and lesson. Tell a short story and say its lesson in one line.
Ages 9–12: Changing excuses. List the different excuses the deniers gave in these first ayat.
Finish with: "I found it is Surah ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will retell one Quran story and its lesson."
Action: Retell one Quran story and its lesson.
