أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنَّمَا خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ عَبَثًۭا وَأَنَّكُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَا تُرْجَعُونَ
'Afaḥassib'tum' 'annamā khalaq'nākum' ʻabathan wa'annakum' 'ilay'nā lā tur'jaʻūna
"Did ye then think that We had created you in jest, and that ye would not be brought back to Us (for account)?"

Did you think Allah created you for nothing, and that you would not return to Him?
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Is anything in your home made for no reason?"
Adoring Allah has a very short clip of this ayah. Play it.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What does Allah ask?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What is my purpose?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Mu'minun is surah 23. Find ayah 115. The key word 'abathan means for nothing, aimlessly. Allah created us with purpose: to know Him, worship Him and do good. And we will return to Him.
Fact: Find the ayah that says we were created to worship Allah (Adh-Dhariyat 51:56).
Ages 5–8: Purpose hunt. Find things at home and say what each is for.
Ages 9–12: My purpose. Write your purpose in one sentence.
Finish with: "I found it in Surah ___, ayah ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will do one thing for my purpose each day."
Action: Do one thing for your purpose each day.
