قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا غَلَبَتْ عَلَيْنَا شِقْوَتُنَا وَكُنَّا قَوْمًۭا ضَآلِّينَ
Qālū rabbanā ghalabat' ʻalay'nā shiq'watunā wakunnā qaw'man ḍāllīna
They will say: "our Lord! Our misfortune overwhelmed us, and we became a people astray!

They will say their misery got the better of them and they were people who went astray.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Is it fair to blame bad luck for our choices?"
Voices of the Quran has the final verses of Al-Mu'minun in a short clip. Listen together.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What excuse do they give?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why do people blame things outside themselves?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Mu'minun is surah 23. Find ayah 106. They blamed misery and bad luck. But they had chosen. Owning our choices is the first step to fixing them.
Fact: What does 'taking responsibility' mean? Find a simple definition.
Ages 5–8: Own it. Practise saying 'I did it, I'm sorry' after a small mistake.
Ages 9–12: Excuses. List common excuses and better responses.
Finish with: "I found responsibility means ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will own a mistake by saying sorry."
Action: Own a mistake by saying sorry.
