وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ ٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِءَادَمَ فَسَجَدُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰ وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
Wa 'idh' qulnā lil'malā'ikati (u)s'judū li'ādama fassajadū 'illā 'ib'līssa 'abā wa-s'tak'bara wakāna mina l-kāfirīna
And behold, We said to the angels: "Bow down to Adam" and they bowed down. Not so Iblis: he refused and was haughty: He was of those who reject Faith.

When the angels were told to bow down to Adam, they did, except Iblis, who refused out of pride and became a rejecter.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What was Iblis' biggest mistake?"
Play the short clip from QuranToYou of Mishary Alafasy reciting ayat 31–35 of Al-Baqarah.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Who refused?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why is pride so dangerous?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Baqarah is surah 2. Find ayah 34. The bowing was a sign of honour, not worship. Iblis refused because he thought he was better. Pride was the first sin.
Fact: The Prophet said whoever has even a speck of pride in their heart will not enter Jannah (Muslim).
Ages 5–8: Humble act. Do a job you think is 'beneath' you.
Ages 9–12: Pride. Write why pride is dangerous.
Finish with: "Iblis refused out of ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will help with a chore without being asked."
Action: Help with a chore without being asked.
