Start with bismillah.

Ask: "Where were you before you were born?"

Put on Mishary Alafasy's Al-Baqarah from Iqra - A Journey Through The Quran and follow along for a little while.

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What stages are named?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How many stages of life are there?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Baqarah is surah 2. Find ayah 28. Before we existed, we were nothing. Allah gave us life, will take it, then bring us back. Every stage is in His hands.

Fact: This ayah names four stages: not existing, life, death and life again.

Ages 5–8: Life stages. Draw the four stages from this ayah.

Ages 9–12: In His hands. Write how each stage shows Allah's power.

Finish with: "To Allah we will ___."

Talk together:

• What stages are named?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• Who gives life?
• How does this make you feel?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will thank Allah for the gift of life each morning."

• Allah gives life.
• We return to Him.
• Be grateful.
