أَيَوَدُّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَن تَكُونَ لَهُۥ جَنَّةٌۭ مِّن نَّخِيلٍۢ وَأَعْنَابٍۢ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ لَهُۥ فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ وَأَصَابَهُ ٱلْكِبَرُ وَلَهُۥ ذُرِّيَّةٌۭ ضُعَفَآءُ فَأَصَابَهَآ إِعْصَارٌۭ فِيهِ نَارٌۭ فَٱحْتَرَقَتْ ۗ كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمُ ٱلْءَايَٰتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَفَكَّرُونَ
How to read it
'Ayawaddu 'aḥadukum' 'an takūna lahu jannatun mmin nnakhīlin wa'aʻ'nābin taj'rī min taḥ'tihā l-'an'hāru lahu fīhā min kulli ththamarāti wa'aṣābahu l-kibaru walahu dhurriyyatun ḍuʻafā'u fa'aṣābahā 'iʻ'ṣārun fīhi nārun fa-ḥ'taraqat' . kadhālika yubayyinu -llahu lakumu l-'āyāti laʻallakum' tatafakkarūna
Does any of you wish that he should have a garden with date-palms and vines and streams flowing underneath, and all kinds of fruit, while he is stricken with old age, and his children are not strong (enough to look after themselves)- that it should be caught in a whirlwind, with fire therein, and be burnt up? Thus doth Allah make clear to you (His) Signs; that ye may consider.
